A few years back there was a company that put out an extensive line of Popeye toys. They had multiple versions of Popeye and Bluto, plus all the regulars (Poopdeck, Wimpy, Olive, Sea Hag) and they were very well done. I own only one, the original black-shirted Popeye. He comes with a can of spinach, an anchor, and a removable cap and is right now perched on my desk with his head cocked up and one fist in the air, ready to fight.
Does anybody know who put these toys out? I'd like to get some more eventually, but they just aren't in stores anymore. I saw them as recently as 5 months ago, so there must be some to be found somewhere. I gotska gets me han's on a Pappy!

The figures were made by Mezco. Oddly, I found them at places like Sam Goody and Suncoast Video, but could never locate them at a toy store. I've seen them here and there on the internet, but they always seem to be in expensive "package sets" now. The one I missed and would have loved to get was Alice the Goon, in the last series.

Although I considered it, I never did pick up any of those figures. I stick to collecting ceramic Wimpys. I should put a photo on my website sometime...unfortunately all of my figurines and other knick-knacks are packed away because there's no room in my current apartment to display them. But we're moving, and my brother and I both hope we can get some shelves up for them. I have some nifty stuff.

I was able to buy an Olive/Bluto 2-pack (with a bonus Swee'Pea) from an ebay online store last night for only $7.00 plus another $4.00 shipping. Not too bad. They wanted $42.00 for Pappy, though! I guess considering his age he's pretty much an antique

Hello Alyssa, welcome to the board. With a toy that old, the best bet would be to check out ebay. Also, you could go to the Gund website. There should be an option to send email to the company for comments. You could send an email asking about the product and seeing if by chance they have any left. it's a long shot, but all you have to lose is the two minutes it would take to write the email. Good luck!
